Are children invited?
Yes! We’re excited to celebrate our special day with all our loved ones, kids included!

Are plus ones allowed?
Due to limited space, we are not inviting plus ones for everyone. Please contact us if you want to bring someone not named on your invitation envelope.

Dress Code:
This is a celebration, so please come dressed up for an early-summer outdoor party!
Dresses, jumpsuits, button-downs, slacks, dress shorts, dressy sweaters are all welcome! Suit jackets are optional. Flat shoes are recommended as we will be on a lawn. Dressy sneakers are allowed! Cheerful spring and summer colours or your favourite sparkly or “extra” wardrobe item are welcomed. Unsure? Ask!

Can we take photos during the ceremony?
During the ceremony we ask that guests refrain from taking photographs and put their devices on do not disturb/airplane mode. We have hired a wonderful photographer to capture all our special moments!

Will you be live streaming your wedding?
We’ll be live streaming our ceremony online, details TBA

Is the wedding indoors or outside?
Both. The ceremony will take place outside on the Malbons’ lawn and the dinner will be indoors at Cherry Creek Hall. We will have a few large event tents in the event of light rain during our ceremony. In the event of significant rainfall, we will likely hold the entire wedding in the hall. 

Are the ceremony and the reception at the same venue?
No! Our wedding will be held in two locations, Liz and Neil Malbon’s house for the ceremony, Cherry Creek Hall for dinner, and back to the Malbon’s for dancing.

Will there be a shuttle between Cherry Creek Hall and 6035 Cottam Road?
Yes, there will be a shuttle from the hall to the Malbon home for anyone who prefers to ride between venues. The walk takes about 10-15 minutes along a country road which can be perfect for after dinner. Note that there are no sidewalks along the roads so appropriate footwear is advised.

Parking:
The Malbon’s live on a small country road that cannot accommodate all the vehicles we are expecting for this event so parking will be available at Cherry Creek Hall. 

I have a dietary restriction or allergy, can you accommodate this?
Yes! Our RSVP form includes a range of entree options from vegan to meat for you to choose from as well as space for you to inform us of your food allergies and intolerances. We intend to make this meal accessible to everyone and will be using your responses to craft it.

Will there be an open bar
Yes, we will provide both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages at the wedding. Please keep in mind that this is a family event, not Partyfest!

What time will your wedding reception end? Is there an after-party?
Our wedding reception is the after party! As we are in a residential area, our party will wind down at a reasonable hour so as not to disturb our neighbours too much. We expect things to get quieter around midnight.

Accommodation:
Port Alberni is not a large place, but accommodations are all relatively near the Malbon’s. Please book in advance and note we have not set aside any hotel spaces.

Should you want to sleep over after our wedding reception, the Malbon property has large grassy fields perfect for camping. If the weather is unsuitable for camping outdoors, indoor camping is an option at Cherry Creek Hall.
